Makeshift Beds And Sparse Meals: Freed Hostages Narrate Ordeal

Nov 27, 2023

Poor Living Conditions

As the release of hostages held captive by Hamas unfolds, harrowing accounts of their confinement reveal a distressing reality. The returnees, after seven weeks in captivity, shed light on the dire conditions they faced while held in Gaza.

Within the past three days, the 58 individuals liberated under a truce deal have predominantly stayed away from the public eye to receive medical care in various hospitals until now. However, details of their living conditions when held hostage paints a grim picture of irregular meals, makeshift sleeping arrangements using plastic chairs, and basic sustenance of bread and rice.

They recounted having to wait hours to access essential facilities like bathrooms.

Yaffa Adar’s granddaughter, Adva Adar, mentioned that her grandmother had experienced weight loss. Adar conveyed that her grandmother meticulously kept track of the days she spent in captivity, returning with a clear awareness of having endured the ordeal for 50 days.

For 85-year-old Yaffa Adar, the captivity marked a time of uncertainty as each day passed. Upon release, she discovered her house had suffered heavy devastation by terrorists, leaving her to face the daunting task of starting anew in her old age.

50 Israeli Hostages Released In The Ongoing Pause

In a bid to secure the hostages’ release, Israel agreed to a four-day truce, with Hamas reciprocating by releasing 50 Israeli hostages in exchange for 150 Palestinian security prisoners and increased aid to Gaza. Additionally, 18 foreign nationals, primarily Thais, were released through separate government-negotiated arrangements.

On the final day of the ceasefire, 11 additional hostages were scheduled for release, leaving approximately 180 individuals still held captive in the Gaza Strip. More importantly, Israeli authorities expressed their readiness to prolong the ceasefire by one day for every ten hostages released by Hamas.

Light At The End

Eyal Nouri, the nephew of Adina Moshe, 72, released on Friday, noted how his aunt struggled to adapt to sunlight after being in darkness for weeks. He described her experience of walking with her face down, unaccustomed to the daylight.

According to Nouri, Moshe was unaware of her impending release until the very last moment. Her realization only dawned upon seeing the Red Cross, marking the end of the distressing seven-week ordeal.

Following her release, she received the incredible news that her son’s family had survived. However, the tragic loss of her husband, Sa’id David Moshe, who was murdered by terrorists before her eyes during the Hamas assault while attempting to protect them, remains a devastating memory.

Psychological Struggles: Victims To Access Free Counseling

The psychological toll of captivity looms large on the victims; hence, Israel is offering counseling and support services to the freed individuals. While many exhibit stable physical conditions, others, like 84-year-old Elma Abraham, require immediate life-saving medical intervention upon release.

Despite the trauma endured, some released hostages, like 12-year-old Hila Rotem-Shoshani, have expressed a lack of will to move forward. However, the transition back to normalcy remains a challenging path after captivity.

As these hostages begin their journey of recovery, their stories shed light on the need for support and healing for those affected by the ongoing turmoil in the region.

Hamas’ Propaganda videos

Hamas, the terror organization that kidnapped over 240 people in Israel early last month, released some of the hostages yesterday in exchange for several Palestinian prisoners who were detained for committing security offenses.

The criminal organization recorded a video of the release of the captives and shared it on social media platforms. In the video recording, seven children and six women can be seen being escorted to a Red Cross van by masked Hamas fighters.

When the freed hostages sit inside the van, they are seen waving and smiling at their kidnappers. One Hamas fighter is heard saying, “Goodbye Noam.” The freed captive he was speaking to is a 16-year-old girl identified as Noam Or. Hamas released her along with her 13-year-old sister Alma. Before taking the two siblings into captivity, the terror group members had murdered their mom, Yonat. Their father is still being held hostage in Gaza.

Did Hamas Force Hostages to Make the Video?

Following the release of the hostage video, Hamas supporters have argued that the freed Israelis were smiling and waving at the fighters because they were treated well. However, many believe that the video clip shows further evidence of the terror group’s cruelty.

Although it’s not clear if the hostages were forced to make the video, at one point, a terrorist is clearly heard instructing two released captives, Noam Avigdor and Sharon Avigdori, to “keep waving” while smiling at the camera. The two have left seven of their relatives in Gaza.

Freed Hostage in Critical Condition

Meanwhile, one of the hostages released yesterday is currently under a life-threatening condition. The elderly woman’s daughter, Tali Amano, accused Hamas of neglecting her mother’s well-being while pretending to be good to hostages in front of cameras.

This is not the first time that Hamas has released a hostage video to spread propaganda. At the start of this month, the terror group published a video featuring three women accusing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of failing to negotiate with the terror group for their release. The trio demanded Netanyahu to accept Hamas’ demands.

Hamas published a “thank you letter” written by Daniel Aloni to her captors, a day before she was released with her daughter. The purpose of the letter, which Daniel was forced to write: to improve Hamas’ image in the world.

Hamas terrorists obviously forced the hostage, a day before she was released, to write this letter. It is again a cynical use of civilian hostages and most certainly an abuse of human rights. A hostage who had to watch her family and neighbors be butchered. Who was held hostage underground for 51 days with her small children. Who was fed 2 pieces of bread per day. Forcing her to write a thank you letter. These terrorists are as much clowns as they are monsters.

October 7th Kidnappings

On October 7, 2023, a significant and tragic attack took place involving Palestinian terror groups and civilians, including Hamas, which led to the kidnapping of more than 230 people. This attack was part of a larger scale of violence and conflict that occurred in the region on that day.

  1. Scale of the Attack and Kidnappings: The attacks conducted by heavily-armed Hamas-led fighters were extensive. They breached the fences with Gaza and entered southern Israel, resulting in large-scale casualties and kidnappings. These attacks led to the death of at least 1,400 people, many of whom were civilians, children, elderly and even babiesโ€‹โ€‹. Additionally, more than 230 people were believed to have been held captive by Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups in Gaza following these attacksโ€‹โ€‹.
  2. Specific Kidnapping Incidents: Among the individuals kidnapped, one notable case was that of 85-year-old Yaffa Adar, who was taken from Kibbutz Kfar Aza into the Gaza Stripโ€‹โ€‹. The kidnappings were part of a multi-pronged infiltration from Gaza, during which terrorists attacked civilians and soldiers at 22 different sites. This operation also involved the firing of thousands of rockets at Israel, contributing to a significant escalation in the conflictโ€‹โ€‹.

Palestinian Attackers Planned Systematic Sexual Assaults Against Israeli Women on October 7th

“Take Your Pants Off”

Palestinians used Arabic-Hebrew transliteration to be able to give commands to Israelis, including learning to say โ€œtake your pants offโ€ in Hebrew. This evidence suggests that Hamas planned to systematically rape Israeli women.

Jewish Women Can be Taken as Sex Slaves According to Palestinian Official

While quoting the Qur’an, the Palestinian woman alleged that the Holy Book permitted Muslim men to take non-Muslim women for sexual use even if they have wives. On the other hand, married women who become sex slaves, their marriages are immediately annulled.

Dozens of Survivor Testimonies

A survivor from the Supernova music festival, where approximately 360 individuals lost their lives, shared a disturbing account of observing a Palestinian attacker sexually assaulting an Israeli girl. The survivor described, “While I was hiding, I saw the terrorists raping her.” She added, “She was forcibly bent forward, they were sexually assaulting her and then passing her from one man to another, each of them raping her.”

In Conclusion

The Palestinian barbaric atrocities of October 7th were marked by extreme violence. Documented through thousands of images and videos, these acts of killing, raping, and looting, involving both Gazan civilians and terrorists, signify a complex and tragic episode in the ongoing war in the middle east. We can only hope for a normal future for future generations, but for now it looks like there is no foreseeable end to this war.
