Israel and Honduras Sign Framework for Deeper Defense Cooperation

Israel and Honduras signed a memorandum of understanding on August 16, 2026, to deepen defense cooperation, according to Israel’s Defense Ministry. Defense ministers Israel Katz and Enrique Rodríguez Burchard signed during a senior Honduran delegation’s visit to Israel.
Who took part and what was discussed
The delegation also included Honduras’s internal security minister and armed forces joint chief of staff. The ministry said discussions covered shared strategic issues and options for closer cooperation, alongside a briefing on Israel’s security challenges and lessons from multifront warfare.
A framework for continuing cooperation
The memorandum gives the relationship with a Central American partner a framework for longer-term work. Its significance lies in establishing an organized basis for engagement beyond a single visit. Such arrangements can support coordination and mutual learning, while specific follow-on programs are determined separately.
No sale, no contract value
The announcement gives no contract value, list of purchased systems or delivery date. This is therefore an update about a defense relationship and its institutional framework, rather than a report of a particular weapons sale. That distinction preserves the diplomatic development without overstating what was agreed.
