Refilling Israels Fresh Water Sea
Israel has launched a groundbreaking project that pumps desalinated Mediterranean seawater into the Sea of Galilee, the first known attempt to refill a natural freshwater lake this way.
Project Officially Launched
The system, activated on October 23, sends purified water through the Tsalmon Stream and Ein Ravid spring to help restore areas hit by years of drought.
Engineers say it can raise water levels by several centimetres each month.
Officials say the goal is to protect the Kinneret as a key national water source while experts closely track any environmental effects.
