OpenAI Plans to Combine Chat and Work: What Changes for Users in Israel

ChatGPT and Israeli Users Disclaimer

OpenAI is preparing to bring Work capabilities into ordinary ChatGPT conversations. Pro allowances have already increased for eligible subscribers, while a broader shared usage system is scheduled to start in December.

An email supplied to Israel News Pulse by a ChatGPT Pro subscriber says OpenAI will test a combined Chat and Work experience with a small group of users before expanding it. The planned test would let people move from discussing an idea to completing a task within the same experience.

From Conversation to Finished Work

OpenAI currently describes Chat as its conversational experience and Work as an agent for longer assignments that produce finished documents and other deliverables. The email says users will be able to bring files and plugins into chat and ask for a website, a presentation or tasks performed on the web, while reviewing and guiding the work.

Codex, OpenAI’s coding tool, will remain a separate experience in the ChatGPT desktop app. A separate interface will not mean a separate usage allowance once the broader change arrives.

The email describes testing in the coming weeks.

Which Pro Subscribers Get More Usage

OpenAI’s October 29 release notes confirm that Pro 100 and Pro 500 received twice their previous Work and Codex allowance. The company also canceled a Pro 200 reduction announced in a September 29 email.

Pro 200 subscribers who already had the higher allowance keep it. Those on the lower allowance receive twice their previous allocation, bringing all Pro 200 subscribers to the same level. Existing subscribers receive the update automatically, without waiting for renewal.

OpenAI lists monthly US prices of $100, $200 and $500 for the three Pro tiers. Plus usage is unchanged by this increase.

ChatGPT and Codex Will Share an Allowance

Work and Codex already share usage. OpenAI’s Help Center says a broader shared allowance for ChatGPT and Codex will begin in December for Plus, Pro and Business plans.

Usage will be measured in tokens, the units of information models process and generate. More advanced models and complex tasks generally consume more. Instant chat will be excluded from this allowance.

OpenAI says it expects most users will not need to wait for resets more often.

What the Changes Mean in Israel

Israel appears on OpenAI’s list of supported countries. That supports access to ChatGPT, but participation in a limited interface test still depends on whether an account receives it.

For Israeli freelancers using AI for online marketing and startups working with Codex, the practical issue is managing mixed workloads. For example, eligible work on a presentation could leave less allowance for coding later in the same usage period.

The update adds a practical question to the discussion of AI and work in Israel: how much a subscription can support across different tasks. An Israeli Plus subscriber should distinguish the upcoming shared usage system from the October Pro increase, which did not raise Plus allowances.

Shekel Billing and the Usage Screen

OpenAI supports Israeli shekels for standard paid subscriptions bought on its website. Localized prices can differ from a conversion of the US price, so Israeli users should check the price and currency displayed at checkout. Active subscriptions continue to be billed in their existing currency. Subscriptions purchased through Apple or Google are managed by those stores.

The combined remaining allowance and reset times will appear in Settings → Usage. Users who reach a limit can wait, upgrade or buy credits for eligible features. Included usage is consumed before purchased credits, and availability varies by account and feature.
