Video Claims Eman Abdelhadi Called October 7 “the Most Beautiful Day of My Life”

A video captioned with the name of University of Chicago academic Eman Abdelhadi is spreading on X, with a claim that she called October 7 “the most beautiful day of my life”. The same sentence appears in her 2022 book of fiction, spoken by a character.
The post has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times since it appeared on October 16, and it is embedded below. Israel News Pulse could not find the full original recording, so it cannot say when or where the clip was made or what was said before and after the words in question.

Watch the video on XPosted 15 October 2026Who Eman Abdelhadi is
Abdelhadi works in the Comparative Human Development department at the University of Chicago, which lists her as an assistant professor. Several outlets, among them The Atlantic in a September 2026 profile, identify her as the half sister of Abdul El-Sayed.
The sentence in her book
Everything for Everyone: An Oral History of the New York Commune, 2052 to 2072 was published by Common Notions in 2022, and the publisher classifies it as fiction. Abdelhadi wrote it with M. E. O’Brien.
In chapter two a fictional interviewee, Kawkab Hassan, describes an uprising in an imagined future, in an interview the book dates to 2067. Her dialogue includes the line “It was the most beautiful day of my life.” The words in the caption therefore exist in Abdelhadi’s own writing, spoken by a character about an invented event.
What the clip does and does not settle
The two readings lead to different conclusions. If the clip shows Abdelhadi speaking in her own voice about the real attack of October 7, 2023, in which Hamas terrorists murdered about 1,200 people, the remark would deserve the condemnation it is getting.
If it shows her reading or discussing a passage of the book, the caption puts a character’s line in her mouth about a real massacre. The full recording would decide between the two, and it has not surfaced.
A possible origin
The authors held a reading and discussion at the Women & Children First bookstore in Chicago on August 28, 2022, which the store said would later be posted on YouTube. Israel News Pulse found no such recording and does not claim the clip comes from that event.
Until the complete video is found, the embedded post is the only version readers can watch, and the question of what she meant by the words stays open.
