A new wave of explosions was reported across southern Iran on Tuesday night, as the United States officially confirmed that American forces had begun striking Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets inside Iran.
Iranian reports described explosions in several strategically important locations along the country’s southern coastline, including Bandar Abbas, Chabahar and Konarak.
U.S. Central Command confirmed that American forces began striking IRGC targets in Iran at approximately 12 p.m. ET on Tuesday. CENTCOM said the strikes came in response to recent attempted IRGC attacks against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against American service members deployed in the region.
Iranian media reported explosions in Bandar Abbas, while more than 15 blasts were reported around Chabahar and Konarak.
Additional reports circulating online named Minab, Sirik, Jask and Qeshm Island among the locations affected and claimed that U.S. forces used Tomahawk cruise missiles.
While the U.S. strikes themselves are now officially confirmed, Israel News Pulse has not independently verified the complete list of reported targets or the claim that Tomahawk missiles were used.

U.S. Central Command has officially confirmed that American forces launched strikes against Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets inside Iran on Tuesday.
According to CENTCOM, the operation began at approximately 12 p.m. ET and followed recent attempted attacks by the IRGC against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against U.S. service members deployed in the region.
The confirmation establishes that the explosions reported across Iran are part of an ongoing U.S. military operation against Iranian targets, rather than merely unverified reports of American involvement.
Separately, the U.S. Embassy in Israel issued a security alert to American citizens, warning that amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, the security situation remains complex and there is potential for unexpected escalation.
The embassy advised U.S. citizens in the region to exercise increased caution and prepare for possible flight cancellations, airspace closures and travel disruptions.
Southern Iran is back in the spotlight
The latest strikes are significant because this is not the first time the United States has targeted military infrastructure along Iran’s southern coast.
During previous attacks in July, U.S. strikes targeted Iranian air defense systems, coastal surveillance systems, surface-to-air missiles, anti-ship cruise missiles and drone launch sites, according to reporting citing a U.S. official.
Explosions were reported at the time around Sirik, Qeshm Island and Bandar Abbas.
CENTCOM subsequently confirmed another round of attacks against military targets that included Chabahar, Jask, Konarak and Bandar Abbas, among other Iranian locations.
That history makes the geography of Tuesday’s latest strikes particularly notable. Bandar Abbas and Qeshm sit beside the Strait of Hormuz, while Jask, Konarak and Chabahar stretch eastward along Iran’s southern coastline toward the Gulf of Oman.
Renewed fighting between Washington and Tehran
The latest U.S. strikes come as hostilities between Washington and Tehran have again intensified.
Reuters reported Tuesday that renewed U.S.-Iranian fighting had pushed oil prices higher following a U.S. strike on Iranian launchers on Larak Island and subsequent Iranian attacks against U.S. forces.
Tensions around the Strait of Hormuz have also escalated sharply. Two tankers carrying Saudi crude were struck by unidentified projectiles while passing through the area, although responsibility for those attacks has not been established.
The explosions across southern Iran therefore come amid an active and escalating military confrontation between the United States and Iran.
The central development is now confirmed: U.S. forces are carrying out strikes against IRGC targets inside Iran. Iranian sources have reported explosions in Bandar Abbas, Chabahar, Konarak and other southern locations. The precise list of targets and reports that Tomahawk cruise missiles were used have not yet been officially confirmed.
