Abu Falah Clashes: New Footage Challenges the Settler Attack Story

The Binyamin Regional Council says Palestinians attacked Israelis near Abu Falah on Friday, and two new clips show masked men with slingshots beside journalists.
The first reports from Abu Falah, in the Binyamin area of Judea and Samaria, said settlers had attacked Palestinian olive harvesters and beaten an American journalist. Two videos that surfaced afterwards point to a different sequence of events on Friday, October 16, 2026.
What the Binyamin Regional Council says
The council accused the Palestinian Authority of orchestrating the clashes under cover of the olive harvest. It said Arab participants fired fireworks directly at Israelis and threw stones before Border Police dispersed them. Several activists and an American journalist were reportedly injured.
The council described the incident as a planned provocation in which journalists filmed Israelis from behind. That is the council's account, and it differs from the reports of a settler attack.
The first video
The footage runs for about 78 seconds. It shows masked men on a dirt track between olive terraces, with smoke in the distance. The account accompanying it describes journalists standing behind the men who were throwing stones and using slingshots.
The second video
A second clip, about ten seconds long, reportedly shows a masked Palestinian holding a slingshot and speaking casually with a foreign journalist beside him. The two are then seen helping to evacuate the injured American journalist after the clashes.
What is still unclear
It has not been established who injured the journalist or how many people were hurt.
