Turkey Takes Control of the Skies: Israel May Face a New Reality in Syria

From Ground to Air: Turkey’s Expanding Presence

Turkey is no longer satisfied with merely seizing territory in northern Syria—now, it’s asserting dominance over the air as well. Ankara has begun converting the Menagh Airbase in northern Aleppo into a military hub for its fighter squadrons, a move that introduces a new strategic threat to the region.

A Game-Changer in Regional Power Balance

This isn’t just another tactical foothold—it’s a major shift in military dynamics. A Turkish airbase deep in Syria would give Erdogan direct military projection over Jordan, Iraq, and potentially even Israel in the future. If today he is deploying drones in Libya and Azerbaijan, tomorrow he could be launching combat aircraft from much closer to Israel’s borders.

The Growing Strategic Threat

The threat is undeniable: Turkish intelligence will operate with little resistance, arms smuggling will flourish through this newly established air corridor, and Ankara’s grip on the region will become increasingly difficult to reverse.

Ankara’s Expansionist Ambitions

Turkey has already demonstrated its willingness to expand without restraint. If Israel fails to act now, it may soon find itself facing a new adversary—with active military bases just a short distance from its northern border.
