Israeli military preparations have intensified amid concerns that renewed strikes on Iran could trigger attacks on Israel and another front with Hezbollah, while Washington continues diplomatic efforts.

The Israel Defense Forces is on heightened alert for a possible resumption of fighting with Iran, according to Israeli media reports, as military preparations advance alongside efforts to reach a diplomatic agreement.

Israel's i24NEWS reported that preparations for a possible strike had been completed. Channel 13 separately reported heightened readiness and the arrival of American shipments carrying weapons and air defense interceptors to Israel and other countries in the region.

IDF Readiness Rises Ahead of Possible Escalation

Channel 13 reported on October 30 that Israeli officials expected readiness to increase further toward the end of the following week, after the November 3 U.S. midterm elections.

The broadcaster also reported that President Donald Trump had received briefings from senior American military officials on options for a substantial operation against Iran lasting several days.

The reported deliveries of munitions and interceptors reflect preparations for both offensive operations and incoming attacks.

Hezbollah Could Open Another Front

Israeli defense officials are preparing for the possibility that a direct confrontation with Iran would also bring renewed attacks from Hezbollah in Lebanon.

According to i24NEWS military correspondent Yossi Yehoshua, the Israeli defense establishment considers Hezbollah's involvement highly likely if fighting with Iran resumes. The threats described in the report include rockets and drones launched from the north.

That assessment broadens the potential consequences of an operation against Iran. Israel would have to prepare for attacks from more than one direction, with northern communities potentially facing renewed fire alongside the wider confrontation.

A Short Operation Could Become a Longer Campaign

The expected duration of any renewed fighting is another unresolved issue.

i24NEWS reported that Trump favors a brief campaign, while Israeli assessments anticipate a more prolonged confrontation. A limited opening operation could therefore be followed by additional exchanges, depending on the responses from Iran and Hezbollah.

A separate i24NEWS report, citing MS NOW, said Gulf officials had been warned about possible American strikes after the U.S. elections. It also described regional efforts to prevent escalation because of concerns about Iranian retaliation.

Diplomacy Continues as Trump Weighs His Decision

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on October 31 that Trump had not decided whether to launch fresh strikes and preferred a diplomatic resolution, Reuters reported. Iranian representatives also met Qatari mediators in Doha as efforts to avert renewed fighting continued.

The negotiations concern issues that extend beyond stopping an initial exchange of fire. According to i24NEWS, reporting on the indirect talks has addressed Iran's nuclear program, the Strait of Hormuz and financial incentives for Tehran.

Those discussions are continuing alongside the military preparations. For Israel, the immediate task is maintaining readiness for a potentially wider confrontation while Washington decides whether diplomacy can produce an acceptable outcome.
