Israel's Nanox announced on October 16 that its Nanox AI subsidiary had signed a distribution agreement with Technologic s.r.l. to commercialize its HealthOST bone assessment software in Italy.

The contractual partner is Technologic, an Italian company affiliated with Tecnologie Avanzate. Nanox said the arrangement would draw on local medical technology experience to extend the software's commercial reach in the Italian healthcare market.

Reading scans already taken

HealthOST is designed to analyse eligible routine CT scans and provide information about the spine that can support a clinician's assessment of musculoskeletal disease, including osteoporosis. The software examines imaging that was obtained for another clinical reason.

That approach is intended to identify people who may benefit from further evaluation without requiring a new scan solely for the software analysis. It does not mean that every existing scan is suitable, or that an automated result by itself establishes a diagnosis.

Nanox describes the product as supporting medical assessment. Decisions about additional tests and treatment remain clinical decisions, based on the individual patient rather than a distribution announcement.

The European regulatory background

The Italian agreement follows an earlier regulatory milestone. On June 5, 2025, Nanox announced that HealthOST had received certification under the European Union's Medical Device Regulation, allowing commercialization in Europe.

The company described the product as software used as a medical device. Its analysis includes vertebral height loss and bone mineral density measures derived from routine CT imaging. The announcement also referred to US FDA clearance received in April 2022.

European certification and a commercial distribution contract serve different purposes. The former concerns the regulatory pathway; the latter concerns how a product reaches a local market. Neither, alone, gives the number of hospitals using the system.

An additional European market

Nanox previously announced an exclusive reseller arrangement with Vertec Scientific for HealthOST in the United Kingdom in August 2026. The Italian announcement describes a separate agreement with a different partner.

For hospitals, software deployment also involves integration with existing imaging workflows. Nanox's earlier product announcement described compatibility with picture archiving and communication systems, the systems used to store and retrieve medical images.

Israel News Pulse could not independently find information about the Italian agreement's financial value, an installation schedule or the number of participating hospitals. Expected commercial expansion should not be read as completed adoption across Italy.

A software product within a wider imaging business

Nanox's activities include imaging hardware, software analysis and services for managing and interpreting scans. HealthOST belongs to its artificial intelligence software business and should not be confused with the Nanox.ARC imaging system.

The company's October announcement names Erez Meltzer as chief executive and acting chairman and Vittorio Catolla Cavalcanti as Technologic's chief executive. Tecnologie Avanzate, the affiliated business cited in the announcement, traces its medical technology experience to 1974.
